THE 30th edition of the Enterprise 50 (E50) Awards was a celebration of fresh faces and industry stalwarts alike, as 50 of Singapore’s innovative and resilient privately held companies came together at the Resorts World Convention Centre on Nov 25.
First time was a charm for construction equipment rental firm Choon Huat Engineering. The first-time E50 participant clinched the top accolade for being at the forefront of promoting sustainability within the construction industry, through its launch of a battery energy-storage system for use in construction sites without access to electricity.
Second place went to health-supplement company Maneuver Marketing, also making its debut at the E50 Awards. It operates health and wellness e-commerce brands, with sales from the US contributing more than 80 per cent of its topline.
In third place was E50 veteran Supreme Components International, taking home its 12th E50 award. The company distributes electronic components to over 2,500 customers worldwide and is now looking to expand into Europe.
Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat, the guest of honour at the awards ceremony, encouraged enterprises to continue honing their competitiveness amid a shifting business environment. They can do so by harnessing technology, developing and investing in talent, as well as collaborating with other companies, including their competitors, he said.
Five companies were conferred four Special Recognition Awards.
Bunker trader Sing Fuels received the Internationalisation Award; human resources service provider Elitez Group won the Sustainability Innovation Award; IT services provider ITCAN won an award for being a 10-year winner of E50 honours, while piping manufacturer Almarc Engineering and commodities trader Khaitan International were recognised for being five-time veterans.
Jointly organised by The Business Times and KPMG in Singapore, the E50 Awards celebrates the 50 most enterprising local companies that have contributed to Singapore’s economic development, both locally and abroad. It is sponsored by OCBC and supported by Enterprise Singapore, the Singapore Business Federation and SGX Group.
More than 700 companies across key business sectors have been recognised by the awards over the past 30 years.
